Inside the deep wood.. Apu Mondal
The deer sees the paw marks
Of the tiger down in the grass,
Up to the edge of the stream.
Knows well he was here for a
Drink, the earth is hot in summer
Trees are quiet and thoughtful,
Only the grass is greener and
Cool. The poor tiger is gentle
And lazy when he is well fed,
The deer knows the laws of the
Jungle and loves the destiny,
The scent of leaves and grass,
How a contented tiger lives
Gracefully among bushes and
Creepers, never preys till his
Stomach rumbles in hunger
And his eyes turn bleary, hazy.
