The Functions of The Critic.. KALIPADA GHOSH

The functions of the literary and creative Critic are to dissect the embodiment of the whole poem or work of art with sincerity and earnestness so as to elucidate and interpret  the the keynote and the quintessence of the poem and giving a Poetic justice. The creative Critics like Coleridge and T.S. Eliot  clinically defined the poetry with power of sympathy of the readers with the Poetic truth and beauty by modifying colours of beauty and imagination which is synthetic and magical power with the proportionate  reconciliation of sameness with differences. An insightful perception with impartial and objective  appreciation and the true visualization free from personal prejudices. Criticism is a work of art and
must profess an end in view. The Critic  is the advocate of the poets whose works he expounds with sympathy ,sincerity and earnestness. The Critic feels the pulse of the poet and his poetry. Criticism is the by-product of his creative activity. The creative Critic throws light on the Poetic art  thorough search of the
soul. He justifies the value of the edifice of art in pros and cons to extract the essence of the fragrance of the work of art.
Absolutely true indeed. The creative Critic does the rightful justice over work and satisfies the readers with his excellence and dexterity. He feels at home with the philosophy of the poets and authors so as to enable him to understand the inns and outs of the works .He has the social and moral responsibilities too having unbiased and impartial attitude towards the literary art. The Critic must have the Poetic veins in himself or herself. He should have realization of the time spirit in literature. Time is the main factor in connection with the the society and the man. A deep insight and perception with sincerity and sympathy are to be maintained.
He should judge the merits demerits of the work with unbiased and impartial attitude giving and hilighting a novelty of thought and beauty and reproduction  with deconstruction like that of the poet. Otherwise it will be an unjustified Criticism.
An ideal Critic is a real poet within with sympathy, sincerity, earnestness and justified and unbiased attitude towards the Poetic and literary art. An objectivity  is his qualitative approach to gain the literary excellence, gravity and standardized testing of work of art.
