Sadness.. Selma Kopic

 

Sadness entered me a long time ago.
She lives in my wrinkles and pores.
There she became comfortable and at home.
The veins of her root
weave a web in the blood,
in the skin,
in the eye.
And I’m used to her
so I carry and endure her
so stable and deep.
Sometimes, seemingly, she slips away,
withdraws, disappears from sight.
She shows herself, openly,
only in four closed walls,
in verse,
in the under-eyes,
in the corner of the blurred eye…
But she is always there,
as deep as the sea,
as wide as the sky.

Tuga

Tuga je u mene davno ušla.
Živi u mojim borama i porama.
Tu se razbaškarila, odomaćila.
Njenog korijena žile
mrežu su isplele
u krvi,
u koži,
u oku...
I navikla sam na nju
pa je nosim i podnosim,
tako stabilnu i duboku.
Ponekad, prividno, izmakne,
povuče se, nestane iz vida.
Pokaže se, otvoreno, tek
u četiri zatvorena zida,
u stihu,
u podočnjaku,
u kutu mutnoga oka...
Ali uvijek je tu,
duboka kao more,
kao nebo široka.
