A gift for your birthday... Refik Martinović
For You
One June
I stole for you
a piece of the blue sky
and locked the locks
of happiness
in the morning
I washed it with dew
and at night warmed
by dreams
and you thirsty as the earth
the sins of the night howled in mystery
and unbuttoned youth
and restless longings
hid her hair.
You put out my pain
the fear of a wild river
in the dawn of morning
and the time
of love droughts
the only one
after the mother
she brought me
into the world
in whose eyes
I saw that eternity
worn only
by a beloved woman
who caresses in the palm of her hand
the smiles
of the mountain breeze
gentle as spring
and playfully like a nightingale song
and never forgotten.
I married you dear
with the ring
of the young moon
in the scent of green grass
with a magical star dance
which are in white dresses
they hugged the night
that was coming down quietly like a fairy tale
and you are carefully weaved the nest
for two white pigeons
which the youngers
flew away
in the blue distances
with the blessing
who has given them
a tear
as a true and proud mother.
