Candle on the table
well into dinner.
Lone burning candle
eating itself, by itself.
We have not sat
face to face, with fingers
heating up stories,
taking a peek into our
bodily inventories.
Will we be sitting
again, face to face any day
round a dishallowed candle
and be hearing heart-felt words
before they decay?
