Happy Republic Day!.. Dr. Mirza Sibtain Beg

 

26th Jan augurs astral aileron of spring,
To fete republic day with zest and zing,
The breeze blusters, birds chirp and sing,
All states tether with cogent cordial string.
…
The golden glory of day ushered us in heyday,
Testament of public laws saw light of the day,
Sovereign dawn darted dusk of slavery at bay,
Swans danced in lakes, flowers were full of gay.
…
The flag sings hymns of patriot’s sacrifice,
308 member’s built for 166 days an edifice,
Appalling act of 1935 replaced by vigorous voice,
Democracy decreed disparate domains to splice.
…
In our constitution, human rights are enshrined,
So are human needs and their fulfilment described,
Ensures equity to all, no citizen has due denied,
Tethers all’s aspirations, no one’s hope is bellied.
…
On 72nd anniversary, celebrate it with full fervour,
The whole country is drowned in glory of tricolour,
With altruistic aroma, and ethos of amity’s arbour,
Fill with symphony of unity to be a howling harbour.
