MY WORD IS MY BOND.. Lukman Nurudeen

   

A lion, one day wandering 'bout,
He was really starving;
Oh! but how he stumbled upon a rat,
't was in fact quite surprising.

He clenched the rat pronto on a palm,
"What a very wee quarry is this" wailed he.
"Prithee," pleaded the rat "don't dine on me,
I'll be of help to you at all time."

The lion roared and chuckled at the rat,
And threw down him on the earth;
And said but furiously,
"I've freed you alive for today only."

Few days to that ghastly event,
The lion had been caught;
By one hunter's trap,
Solemnly sitting on his lap.

The once rat saw him afar,
Whilst scampered there to his aid;
He unlossen him from the trap and said:
"One good turn deserves another".
